Parent Information Letter 9/20

Hello HCES families! 

We had an amazing first week back and we would like to thank all of our amazing parents for your diligence in following our procedures. You truly made arrival and dismissal run smoothly! And, we were able to keep our line moving and have all students in their classes by 8:00 a.m. and dismissal was complete by 3:00 p.m. Great job HCES family!

We will continue to ask parents to keep your car rider sign in your front dash while we learn your car and the names of your children. We will send home the second car tag for families this Monday with Cohort A and Wednesday with Cohort B. Please look for those tags in your youngest child's backpack. Again, we will continue calling their names and car number.

Please check the staggered schedule as it changes each week. This week, Cohort A students will attend Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Cohort B students will attend Thursday and Friday of this week. The calendar is still listed below for ease of reference and the calendar can also be found in the link above as well as more detailed information. Please strictly adhere to the schedule as assigned to your child. Your child can only attend school on their cohort days. If you have questions you can email your child's teacher or admin.

COVID-19 Exposure or Diagnosis:

Thank you parents for staying on top of this and erring on the side of caution if your child shows any signs of sickness. Please continue to email me and your child's teacher if you have concerns of exposure or a positive diagnosis. It is better to reach out and ask for directions than to send them with possible COVID exposure. So far, you have all been diligent in sharing information with us and we truly appreciate your support!

If your child is exposed to someone with Covid-19 or is diagnosed with Covid-19, we need to know as soon as possible. Please email your child's teacher and admin so we can share this information with our district nurses. They will then reach out to you to determine when your child can return to school. We will rely on our parents to be honest and responsible in sharing this information in an effort to keep everyone safe to include other students as well as our teachers and staff.

Please remember that during this time of COVID, things are ever-changing and we must remain flexible as we make the best decisions for our students. Due to the changes in enrollment with HVA and traditional, we have combined our third-grade HVA classes to one class. Mrs. Johnson will be our HVA third grade teacher. We also gained a fifth-grade unit, and Ms. Rice will now be joining our fifth-grade team and teaching fifth grade. We appreciate all of the hard work and effort our teachers have shown in order to make these transitions smooth for this upcoming week.

Reminders:

  • Please send a water bottle with your child labeled with their name.
  • You may send a lunch from home for your child, however, breakfast and lunch are free to our students through the end of the first semester. Students will eat breakfast and lunch in their classrooms. We are not allowed to share food. Parents are not allowed to send food for the entire classroom.
  • Students will have PE in the PE gym or cafeteria daily and recess will be daily if weather permits.
