Message from Our Principal

Hello Bulls, 

I have been settling into HCMS and starting to feel at home here already! Thank you for your emails and notes welcoming me. I already know that HCMS is truly the exceptional Family I have heard about.  Mrs. Van Allen, Mrs. Clark, and our exemplary staff have already done a tremendous amount of work to prepare us for the 2020-2021 School Year.

I know the big question on all our minds is, "What will school look like next Fall?" Our district is working closely with us to develop three different learning plans so that we can be responsive to how COVID 19 is impacting our community.  Returning to "traditional" school is the first plan we are developing. In this plan, school will resume like we are all used to with students attending school daily. The second plan being developed is a blended plan. In this plan, students will alternate between learning at school and e-learning at home. This plan allows us to facilitate social distancing requirements by having a portion of our students in the school building while the other portion of our students are at home utilizing e-learning.  A completely virtual plan, or our third learning plan, is also being developed in which all learning would occur via e-learning. I will continue to share information as it is developed. The big take away for you to know - we are actively planning several ways to ensure we can continue educating our students!

On a separate note, our District launched The Huntsville Virtual Academy (HVA).  This schooling option is for students that want to learn virtually rather than return to school to participate in any of the three learning plans we are developing for HCMS. HVA has courses in mathematics, science, language arts, world languages, social studies, as well as electives. Summer Computer Repair for Middle School students will be on Tuesday mornings from 8:30 am - 11:30 am at the Mastin Lake Road Facility, 3221 Mastin Lake Road.  Upon arrival, press the exterior intercom button and ask for assitance.
