Mrs. Bell organized a Veterans Day assembly on Thursday, November 2. As part of this amazing celebration, she brought in Earl Granville as a guest speaker. Students invited relatives that served in the military and the band played traditional music from all forces. To wrap the program up, students read papers they had written thanking everyone for their service.
Earl Granville is a 9 year veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. During his time in service, Granville served in support of Operation Joint Forge in Bosnia, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. In the summer of 2008 while on patrol in Afghanistan, his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb which resulted in the amputation of his left leg and the death of two of his comrades. In 2010, Earl lost his twin brother to suicide. His brother Joe was also a soldier in the Army National guard. Today, Earl speaks publicly about overcoming adversity and the importance of finding help battling mental illness.
