This Week at HCMS (Sept 16)
September is attendance awareness month. Please help us by making sure your child is at school on time each day. We continue to work with our students and families to make attendance a priority. The state defines chronic absenteeism as missing 18 or more days of school for any reason. This includes unexcused absences in addition to the excused absences your child may accumulate when he/she is sick. In order to help us monitor truancy due to unexcused absences, we encourage you to send a note when your child misses school. Even if the absence is unexcused, it provides information for our social worker on why a student is absent from school. As a reminder, a parent may submit up to 7 notes for illness. Attendance notes can be emailed to the office. Emailing directly prevents notes getting lost in bookbags and lockers.
In advisory this week, we’ll focus on Time Management. Students will learn what time management is and some strategies to their time organized. I encourage you to help your child plan out their extra-curricular activities each week on Sundays or Mondays to help them plan ahead.
Thank you for all you do to support our school and community. I’m looking forward to another great week of leading and learning!
