April Newsletter

Welcome Back from Spring Break!

We hope that you all enjoyed a safe and fun Spring Break holiday! We are excited to welcome our students back for our final two months of the school. While the year may be winding down, we have a very busy April ahead of us. Please make plans to join us for some of our upcoming activities.

Star Testing:

Our end of the year STAR tests are happening on April 10th and 11th. These tests, one reading and one math, will provide an indication of how much your student has grown academically this year. Please help t hem to their best  by encouraging a good night's sleep the night before. We will share the results with you soon. We cannot wait to see their growth!

"Celebrate our Daughters and Celebrate our Sons":

Our "Celebrate our Daughters" and "Celebrate our Sons" activities are designed to provide a fun activity that will allow each student to spend time with a family member of their choice. More information and an RSVP card will be coming home soon. Be sure and reserve your spot!

Pre-K Registration:

If you are interested in registering your child for the HCS Pre-kindergarten program for the 2018-2019 school year, please be sure to complete the online registration between 8:Bam on April 2nd and 8:Bam on April 9th. If you need access to a computer to complete the application, stop by the front office. We are happy to help!

K for a Day!

We will hold our annual "Kindergarten for a Day: on Friday, April 27, 2018. This is an opportunity for our upcoming kindergartners to have an opportunity to meet the kindergarten teachers and see what it is like to be in a kindergarten classroom. Parents will attend an informational meeting about what to expect from their child's first year of school. We will be sending home more information in the coming weeks.

Attendance:

Please help us reach our attendance and tardy goals this school year. We need an average daily attendance for the school year to be at least 95% and our tardy rate to remain below 5%. You can help us meet these goals by making sure that your child comes to school on time each day. We appreciate your efforts in this area!

Second Mile Parent Parties:

The next Parent Party is on April 18th at 12:30 in the cafeteria. We want to invite all parents to come out, even if you only have a few minutes. Each meeting has valuable information about supporting your child's growth and development. The atmosphere is friendly and refreshments are provided. Door prizes are also given away! We are offering activities for younger children so that you can actively participate in the party without worry. We hope to see you on the 18th!
