Black History Month in Pre-K

Let’s take a look at what Highlands’ youngest scholars did for Black History Month.

Pre-k classrooms each choose an African nation to represent on their doors. Each class had the whole month of February to study and learn about the country that they chose.

Pre-school students enjoyed listening to and learning about different types of African music such as reggae and Motown.

What they enjoyed the most was hearing and learning about most was “Spider stories”. Spider stories are traditional African Folk stories about Anansi the Spider.

Lastly, Pre-K enjoyed their deep dive into African American History by studying African American Scientists.

We can’t wait to see what Pre-k will do next!
