Highland's Building Update

Dear Highlands families,

We are writing to provide you with another update about Highlands Elementary School. With roughly two months left in the semester, we appreciate your continued support and understanding during the relocation to the Cavalry Hill campus. We also thank the staff for their hard work in preparing the scholars at Highlands Elementary for ACAP testing. SOAR HAWKS!

Here are some updates on the Highlands Elementary School building at 2500 Barney Terrace:

  • New HVAC units are currently being installed throughout the building.
  • New fiber cable is being run for the school internet.
  • A contractor for the interior renovations has been selected and approved, and work on the inside of the building (such as ceiling work, cafeteria renovations, etc.) has begun.
  • The staff has chosen new colors for classrooms and hallways. Crews are prepping the interior walls for painting.
  • New items such as lunchroom tables and white boards have been ordered.

As a reminder, all day-to-day teaching and learning as well as school operations will continue to take place at the Cavalry Hill campus at 2800 Poplar Ave for the remainder the 2021-22 school year. We plan for students to return to the Highlands Campus for the start of the Fall 2022 semester. Thank you for your role in making the current 2021-22 school year successful.

Very respectfully,
HCS Administration
