Lori Otto

Hello! My name is Lori Otto and I am a teacher of special needs students who attend the Life Skills program. I earned a bachelor's degree in collaborative teaching from Alabama A&M University in 2006, graduating Suma Cum Laude. I am currently working on my doctoral degree at NSU, with a focus on applied behavior analysis. I have experience teaching at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I also taught scuba diving at Space Camp for eight years prior to becoming a special education teacher. This is my ninth year of teaching students with special needs.
My teaching philosophy is based on respecting differences, building a climate of trust, and tapping into my student’s strengths and abilities. I believe we all have something to contribute and learn from each other. I enjoy learning new things from my students each day. I use multi-media based instruction in the classroom and believe in a consistent, positive and respectful approach to making lasting, meaningful behavior changes.
