Mr. Matt Franks

This is my first year teaching at Huntsville High School. I moved to Huntsville about a year ago from Birmingham and I have loved being a member of this community. I am a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College where I earned my degrees in History and Secondary Education with a minor in Psychology. I have taught Modern U.S. History and World History in the past, and I am currently teaching U.S. History up to 1877 and Psychology in room 249 of the main building. In my class we will be working to create historically knowledgeable and politically aware citizens. I hope that my students will leave my class with the skills and curiosity required to question everything and think critically in their daily lives.
In addition to my teaching duties, I am also a varsity football coach and the baseball coach for the freshmen team. I played football at Birmingham-Southern College and baseball has always been a passion of mine. I look forward to the opportunities I have outside of the classroom to develop confident and skilled athletes.
