State NCWIT Awards Announced

The following Huntsville High School students have been recognized as a 2018 Northern Alabama Affiliate awardee of the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in ComputingThey were selected based on their outstanding leadership, exceptional academic history, and forward-thinking ability.  They join a supportive group of over 10,000 young women who, like them have a passion for computing and technology.

  • Yaritza Valentin (12):  National Honerable Mention, North Alabama Winner
  • Isabelle Brown (11):  North Alabama Winner
  • Tiffany Dinh (11):  National Honerable Mention, Alabama Winner
  • Isabella Wiehe (10):  North Alabama Winner
  • Elizabeth Rhonemus (9):  North Alabama Runner Up

The National Center for Women & Information Technology is a national non-profit organization that works to increase the meaningful participation of girls and women in computing. NCWIT was founded in 2004.

The awardees will be presented their award at the Northern Alabama Affiliate Aspirations Award Ceremony to be held at the Bryant Conference Center (in Tuscaloosa) on April 7, 2018  which includes a formal dinner, awards ceremony, and special keynote speaker.
