Stuart Ivey

Stuart Ivey was born and raised here in Huntsville, AL, and is a graduate of Grissom High School. He received a Bachelor of Music Education from Auburn University, where he served as Section Leader and Drum Major of the Auburn University Marching Band. He also was principal/lead trombone of the Symphonic Winds, University Orchestra, and Jazz Band. Mr. Ivey received a Master of Music in Trombone Performance from the University of Missouri, where he was principal trombone of the University Philharmonic and held graduate teaching assistantships in the Trombone Studio and Music Theory areas.

Mr. Ivey began his teaching career as the Associate Director of Bands at Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette, AL, where he also taught 7th and 8th grade band for two years. Just prior to accepting the Director of Bands position at Huntsville High, he served as Director of Bands at Vinemont High School and Middle School for one year, where he taught grades 6-12.

Mr. Ivey resides in Madison with his wife, Courtney, daughter, Vivian (born August 2015), and miniature labradoodle, Addison.
