Welcome Letter from the Principal
Huntsville High School Community,
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! We are all excited to have our students back in the building for a wonderful year! We are starting to see signs of fall as our band students are working hard in their summer band camp, and our fall sports teams are busy preparing as well. Administrators and counselors are hard at work preparing for teachers to return next week. This week it was great to see our incoming Freshmen touring on campus for Camp Pride.
Students, remember it is not too late to complete summer reading, as your book talks are due on Friday, August 27. Take time to read your assigned reading books so you are ready to start your English class off on the right foot.
On Thursday, July 29, we will welcome our students to campus to pick up schedules. Students will enter the main building at the attendance office. Here is the schedule for schedule pick up day:
- Seniors 8:00 am – 9:30 am
- Freshmen 9:30 am – 11:00 am
- Sophomores 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
- Juniors 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
As students check their schedules, if we made a mistake and did not place you in the eight courses you requested, counselors will work with you to fix the problem. If you are in the courses you selected in the Spring, we will not make changes to schedules unless a student desires to move from regular to honors or AP.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 4, 2021, and at 8:00 am when the doors open, students will move directly to their A1 class. This year all students have eight courses plus a Panther Hour course, labeled “PH.” This course, which is between 3rd and 4th block on both A-day and B-day will be used to close the achievement gap through reading intervention, math intervention, AVID, and Enrichment (ACT Test Prep).
Whether you are returning for your fourth and final year at Huntsville High School, or you are new to our school, district, or state, welcome back! We are excited to work with you to make 2021-22 the best school year yet!
