HJHS Highlights October 14th - 18th

Penny Drop Fundraiser

This week student council will hold a penny drop fundraiser to donate to Huntsville Hospital’s Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund. Please bring your change! It will be a grade-level competition to raise the most money and there will be a grade winner.

On Friday, October 18, WEAR PINK!

Accessing Student Resources

Students have access to their school resources from any device.  Students should go to Google and login using their HCS username and password.

Username is firstname.lastname@stu.hsv-k12.org

After signing in you will see a “waffle” in the upper right-hand corner.  Here students can access their Google Drive where many school documents and assignments are saved.

Clever is another important resource.  It is a single sign on application that provides access to all of HCS student resources.  Here they will find Canvas, Pearson Easybridge, Newsela, and Alabama Virtual Library. Canvas is what teachers use as an online platform for their classes.  Pearson Easybridge is the location of online textbooks and math resources.

Visit Clever.com to login.

Supporting a love for reading is critical to student success. Supporting your school is just as important. The Follett Book Fair encourages your child's reading habits, builds their personal libraries and raises funds for the school, all at the same time.

Book Fair Hours

Monday - Friday 8AM - 3PM

All students will have the opportunity to buy through their social studies class.

Monday - Mrs. Jamison’s Classes

Tuesday - Mr. Jackson’s Classes

Wednesday - Mrs. Dill’s Classes

The book fair will also be open during Pantheree on Thursday, October 24th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM

Volunteers

We need volunteers to join our journey as we run the book fair. It’s a fun adventure to help our children shop the book fair! and be a part of the bigger picture here at Huntsville Junior High School.  Go To Sign-up Genius to Claim your spot.

Gift Cards

Easy to Purchase, Easy to Use!  Follett Book Fair Gift Cards are digital. Families simply select the amount they would like and print it at home or email it to the recipient. It’s that easy, and there’s no expiration date! Gift cards make great gifts for students from extended family members who might not be able to attend the fair. Students can shop the fair without carrying cash or checks. After the fair, any leftover balance can be redeemed on our online store, or at your next Follett Book Fair.

Encouraging a love of reading in a child guarantees a lifetime of adventures! Not all students have the ability to shop at the book fair.  Consider purchasing a $10.00 gift card(s) to sponsor a student(s) at our school. Donated gift cards can be sent to Catherine Strain (librarian and book fair coordinator) at catherine.strain@hsv-k12.org

Go to Follettgift.com to give the gift of reading!
