HJHS Receives ESSA Federal Funds
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Huntsville Junior High is thrilled to be receiving ESSA federal funds this year. These federal monies will provide increased instructional services and activities. Additional supports will also help students in meeting the challenging state academic standards and closing the educational opportunity gap. Students may receive extra academic support via a new curriculum specialist and/or interventionists who specialize in small group instruction focusing on literacy, mathematics, and behavior. If needed, supplementary intervention services will be provided for students identified through multiple assessments. In addition, federal funds will help support a school-based Parent Involvement Coordinator and Parent and Family Engagement events such as Reading and Math Events!
These funds will allow the faculty and staff to work together to decide what resources (specialized teachers, curriculum, etc.) to employ to support all students. These monies are not tied to school performance, but socioeconomic diversity. For example, other local public school systems and local private schools also receive this funding. This is most likely a one-time opportunity for these funds. As we continue to try to safely and effectively educate our students during the pandemic, it could not come at a better time.
