National Junior Honor Society
Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a middle school student. Seventh and eighth grade students are eligible for induction. Selection is based upon careful consideration of one’s scholarship, service, character, citizenship, and leadership. No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Junior Honor Society strives to recognize the total student; one who excels in academics, leadership, service and character.
Ms. Kerri Spivak
• Leadership must be shown in classrooms or in the community
• Up to ten hours of service must be completed (with adult sponsorship/verification)
• Character is scored from the number of suspensions, office referrals, detentions, and/or silent lunches
• Citizenship is scored from student’s involvement in school or community teams, clubs and/or organizations.
REMINDER: ALL honor society members MUST turn in their TEN service hours by 3pm on Friday, December 21. Parents have signed a letter stating that they understand that any member who does not meet this requirement will be removed from honor society. Members have been receiving reminder notices since May about this deadline. If there are any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Dill at email@example.com.
