Eleven Schools Temporarily Transitioning to Remote Learning

Eleven Huntsville City Schools will temporarily transition to remote learning on Thursday, Jan. 20 and Friday, Jan. 21. Students will return to campus on Monday, Jan. 24.  The district’s Preventative Measures Team worked collaboratively with the school’s leadership team to assess several factors before making the decision to transition to remote learning, including the number of positive COVID-19 cases and/or staffing availability.  For additional details, including a complete list of the schools affected, click the More Information button below.

Arick Shankles

Hi! My name is Mr. Arick Shankles. This is my 2nd year teaching at Jemison High School and am proud to be a part of the Jaguar family. I was born and raised in Scottsboro, Alabama and graduated in 2015 from Muscle Shoals High School. I was a 4x AHSAA Wrestling State Champion and I wrestled NCAA D1 in college. I am currently working on my master's degree in Educational Leadership. I am a middle child to two brothers, Tyler and Brennen, and I also have 3 dogs: Chip, Cooper, and Duke; as well as a cat, Tobi. In my free time I like to watch and coach sports, play video and board games with my friends, read books, travel, and make music. This year I will be teaching Driver's Education and Career Preparedness courses. I am also the Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Wrestling Coach. More importantly, I am excited to continue to change lives at Jemison!
