Eleven Schools Temporarily Transitioning to Remote Learning

Eleven Huntsville City Schools will temporarily transition to remote learning on Thursday, Jan. 20 and Friday, Jan. 21. Students will return to campus on Monday, Jan. 24.  The district’s Preventative Measures Team worked collaboratively with the school’s leadership team to assess several factors before making the decision to transition to remote learning, including the number of positive COVID-19 cases and/or staffing availability.  For additional details, including a complete list of the schools affected, click the More Information button below.

Mr. Maynard James

Dear Jemison High Family & Stakeholders,

My name is Mr. Maynard James and it is my pleasure to serve as the 9th grade Freshman Academy administrator. It is my vision to link our scholars to who/what they aspire to become. In order to do that, my personal mission is to link our scholars to opportunities, experiences, and connections that expose them to educational aspirations beyond the traditional school setting.

My actual story begins right here in the Rocket City-Huntsville, AL...which I affectionally refer to as the Ville. Hometown references like this are just another example of how personally attached I am to my community. Great communities make great cities. Growing up in North Huntsville's deep cultural heritage has shaped me into who I am today...a servant leader.

During my free time I enjoy reading, spending time with family, watching documentaries, and being creative.

My educational journey has always been aligned to Mae C. Jemison's vison to: Invest...Fully, Persevere...Always, and Achieve...Excellence.

Jag Pride!
It's Time! Linked Aspirations!
