A Journey Through Cathedral Caverns

My Journey through Cathedral Caverns

By: Grant; 5th grader, Mrs. Mitchell's class

One Summer morning, I found out that me and my sister were going to Cathedral Caverns with our friends. Little did I know, I would learn a lot from that trip.

First, our friends, Jack and Caitlin picked us up from our house. After that, we headed for one giant cave! When we headed in, the tour guide told us to line up on the wall. We were in for a treat!

Next, we went further and further into the cave. We saw lots of spiky stalactites and stalagmites. One thing called a pillar is a stalactite and a stalagmite that are touching each other. There was one huge, pale pillar that they called Goliath.

Then we saw some more awesome things in the cave. One cool thing I heard about is that they have weddings there. At the end of the tour, the tour guide said that there are only two places in the world that are pitch black. One was at the deepest, darkest part of the ocean, and one was in the cave! Then the tour guide turned off all of the lights! It was pitch black! Then she made a galaxy of lights.

Finally, we walked out of the cave. Once we were out, we went to the souvenir shop. I got a stuffed animal bat. After we got a souvenir, we ate a picnic lunch. Let me just tell you, Jack and Caitlin’s Grandmother brought a lot of brownies.

Going to Cathedral Caverns with my friends was one of my favorite trips ever! I hope I can go there again soon.
