All Huntsville City Schools will transition to remote learning beginning Monday, Jan. 24 through Friday, Jan. 28. Students will return to campus on Monday, Jan. 31. HCS is joining school systems across North Alabama in transitioning to remote learning due to the impacts of COVID-19 and staffing availability. Shayna Johnson

I taught in the general education classroom at Lakewood Elementary for four years and this is my fourth year as Lakewood's G.A.T.E. teacher. Lakewood is definitely my home! I earned my Master's degree in gifted education from Samford University in May of 2020. My husband, Joe, and I have two boys. Caiden, 18, plays baseball in college; Myles, 13, plays basketball for his middle school and on a travel team. They keep us very busy and teach us a lot about patience, time management, and keeping up with current trends and activities.

Please contact me to make any referrals to the Gifted program here at LES.
