Car Rider Tags
Hello MLK Bulldogs!
This message is for the parents of CAR RIDERS ONLY.
Your student received car rider tags this week . Each family received 2 tags. ( If there are multiple students, the older student received the tags) Please place the tag on your rear view mirror, words facing outward. We will start using that tags August 26th. This will help with making the car rider line more efficient.
If your students did not receive a tag, please let their teacher know.
Attendance Matters in Alabama
Please help us reach our GOAL of 98% or higher attendance rate for the year. The ALSDE requires a 95% attendance rate for the year. We will track our attendance each month.
- Days students are absent due to out-of-school suspension shall not count as unexcused absences for the purposes of determining truancy.
- After the 1st and 2nd Unexcused Absences, the teacher will contact the parent/guardian by telephone, email, or robocall, and schedule a conference with the Attendance Task Force Team for interventions and strategies.
- After 3 Unexcused Absences, the school shall send a First Notification Letter to the parent/guardian. The letter is to include a copy of the Compulsory Attendance Law.
- After 5 Unexcused Absences, the school shall send a Second Notification Letter to the parent/guardian which requests they attend a mandatory Early Warning Conference. In addition, the school will email a list of parents/students invited to Early Warning and a Referral Card to the assigned truancy personnel.
Check In/Check Out
It is imperative that all students arrive at school on time. Learning loss occurs when students are tardy because they miss valuable instruction.
Please have your students at school ready to learn by 8:00. Check in after 10:30 will not be allowed.
If you must change your students mode of transportation home, PLEASE let the teacher know by 1:45. Also, students are not allowed to check out after 2:00 unless it is an extreme emergency.
Join the PTA
There is still time to join the PTA. Membership is only $5.00 Membership applications are available in the front office or you can request one from your students teacher. PTA creates the village that helps to raise our students and strengthen our community. PTA links families to important school and community information. PTA hosts fun, educational clubs, programs and events for our families. PTA raises money to support the specific needs of our school.
