Rise Raptor Project
On May 11, 2022, Montview students enjoyed a fun and informative presentation by Rise Raptor Project, Inc., a North Alabama 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation founded for the purpose of teaching principles of good environmental stewardship, sound science, conservation, history, and culture. They use raptors (birds of prey) as a unique avenue to communicate these principles in a memorable and meaningful way. The students were mesmerized by a Eurasian eagle owl named Maximus, a red tail hawk named Sassy, and a beautiful American Kestrel falcon named Blue. Many thanks to the presenters: Curt Cearley - executive director, principle founder, educator, and master falconer; Lorelei McElroy – junior educator, assistant, and raptor handler; and Nikki McElroy – educator, assistant raptor trainer, and handler.
