Red Ribbon Week!

Monday, October 25, 2021 (All day) to Friday, October 29, 2021 (All day)

Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness campaign. It began after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. Camarena was killed by drug traffickers he was investigating in 1985. Red Ribbon Day began as a local celebration in California, where Camarena grew up, in honor of his life and work. It has since grown into a week-long national campaign.

MMS's Red Ribbon Week theme is "Soar Above Drugs!". We'll mark the occassion with daily themes:

  • Monday - Be all you can be! Be drug-free! (wear camo)
  • Tuesday - Wear pink for Breast Cancer Awareness
  • Wednesday - Red-y to be drug-free! (wear red)
  • Thursday - Drugs are whacky, dress tacky!
  • Friday - Be a superhero! Be drug-free!

Students will participate in a poster contest to share the message "Soar Above Drugs!"
