Ms. Boyd's News: January 13
We are beginning this week to test students in Kindergarten through third grade on DIBELS. Your teachers should be letting you know what your student’s score is and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Report cards went home on January 6 and if you need to set up a conference with your child’s teacher, please do so. We are here to work together with you to help your child be successful.
We are really needing your support the next few months. Many of our students did not score very well on the STAR and we will be working heavily on State Standards in reading and math.
Please plan to either come to school on January 14, Tuesday afternoon from 3:00-4:00 or stay when you pick up your child. Students will be displaying their computer skills. They will be demonstrating Freckle and EPIC to name just a couple.
We are expecting the Mayor to come to Morris to read to the students on Friday, January 17 as our kick-off for the Parade of Readers. You will be getting more information from your student’s first grade teacher.
January 20th is Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and there is no school.
Thank you again for supporting Morris Elementary. If you have any concerns, please contact the office and either Mr. Shingleton, our assistant principal, Ms. Parvin, our counselors, all the ladies in the front office or I will be glad to help.
Patty Boyd, principal
