Ms. Boyd's News: January 21
I hope you enjoyed the three-day break, celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
We are continuing testing students in Kindergarten through third grade on DIBELS. Your teachers should be letting you know what your student’s score is and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Report cards went home on January 6 and if you need to set up a conference with your child’s teacher, please do so. We are here to work together with you to help your child be successful.
Teachers will be having a small awards day celebration in their classrooms on Friday to honor students who made academic growth. I will be visiting all classrooms and will be presenting the principal’s award to one student in each class.
We are really needing your support the next few months. Many of our students did not score very well on the STAR and we will be working heavily on State Standards in reading and math.
The Mayor did come to Morris to read to the students on January 17 for our kick-off for the Parade of Readers.
Thank you again for supporting Morris Elementary. If you have any concerns, please contact the office and either Mr. Shingleton, our assistant principal, Ms. Parvin, our counselors, all the ladies in the front office or I will be glad to help.
Patty Boyd, principal
