Counseling is for Everyone!

I am honored to serve the students, teachers, and families of Mtn. Gap School.  My hope is that students will find that the counseling office is a place of care, concern, and empathy.

I help to support students in the following three areas: academic encouragement & support, social/emotional growth & development, and college/career readiness & goal setting.  Also, the counseling office is a place to ask for extra supplies, a safe place to cool down, or an area to learn to solve problems with friends.  My hope is to see all students reach their potential and meet success in the future, allowing them to be well-rounded, balanced and healthy individuals.

How can the school counselor help?

  • Work collaboratively with students, parents, and teacher to identify and remove barriers to learning
  • Help students recognize and make the best of their abilities
  • Support students by teaching a variety of skills:  listening skills, coping skills, problem-solving skills, study skills
  • Develop and deliver a variety of classroom guidance lessons
  • Encourage students to meet their potential
  • Communicate with parents about community resources & family support
