John Anglin

It is my pleasure to be a new member of the computer science teaching team here at New Century. I grew up here in Huntsville, attended high school at Butler High and college at Auburn University and UAH. I also served in the air national guard as an aircraft mechanic for 13 years part time while working as a software engineer full time on various defense contracts. I then changed my path in life and became a full time aviator with the United States Air Force. I served as a flight engineer on both the C5 Galaxy and the C130 Hercules in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. I retired in October of 2015 after 22 years of military service having accrued over 2500 flight hours and 100 combat missions. I was awarded the Air Medal and two Air Force commendation medals for my service. I now hope to bring my real world experience to the classroom and help to create the next generation of computer scientists.

In my free time, I enjoy all manner of science fiction and fantasy. I have a wide knowledge and love of all things Doctor Who, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc. Also, as time permits, I try to fly as often as possible and attempt to master the latest Xbox games.
