Schedule for this week

Monday is an A day (ABABA week).

Students who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 should remain home from school and seek medical treatment. Symptoms include new cough, new loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever or chills, muscle or body aches, headaches, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, and fatigue. Absences due to COVID quarantine and COVID positive are marked using special attendance codes in INow so they do not count against the student.  Please submit notes promptly for all absences to Ms. Lightfoot.

Pre-ACT

All tenth graders will be taking the Pre-ACT at the school on Wednesday, February 10th.  If a student was unable to complete the demographic section prior to the test, he/she will be required to stay after the PreACT ends to complete the personal information (which takes 45 minutes – 1 hour).

We are limiting the number of students in each room so that social distancing can be maintained as much as possible. Each student will also have a desk shield to use throughout testing.  All testing will take place on the upstairs New Century hallway (English and Social Studies classrooms primarily).  Students cannot be admitted to the room until the Test Administrator is present to verify their ID.

Progress Reports

We encourage all parents to check the progress report for their students in INow and contact teachers if you have any questions about grades.  Remember parents can have access to both INow and Schoology to view student assignments, grades, etc.  If you need assistance setting up your Schoology account, please contact your child’s first period teacher for an access code.  If you need assistance accessing INow, please email Mrs. McGehee.

The Secret of Success

I want to congratulate all of our students who continue to do their best every day. The school strives to provide as much support as possible, but we know that students have to take responsibility for their own learning now more than ever – especially students who are virtual. Instead of considering this a burden, many students realize this is helping to prepare them for success by developing 21st century skills such as time management, communication, adaptability and self-direction.

Teachers are working hard to provide students everything they need to be successful.  Students have access to more resources than ever before.  All lessons are recorded and available online.  Assignments are all posted on Schoology, along with due dates.  Teachers can be reached by message (in Schoology), by email, or in person. Technology is once again an asset (instead of an issue) for our students.

Parents are encouraged to support students by monitoring grades in INow and viewing assignments in Schoology. If you have any questions or concerns about a class, feel free to reach out to the teacher. We strive to provide every student the opportunity to excel and look forward to working with parents and students to help them achieve their goals.
