Monday, March 2nd is an A day.

Congratulations

  • New Century was well-represented at the annual HOSA state-level competition.  These competitors are in the top 6 in the state in the listed area:
    • Cultural Diversities & Disparities in Healthcare: Salema Myler
    • Health Career Display (team): Meryem Budak and Jackie Lee
    • Medical Math: Saad Ata
    • Medical Spelling: Meghan Mirabella
    • Prepared Speaking: Lesep "Leo" Whyte
    • The top three in each event are invited to the international level of competition which will be held in Houston this June.  The students who placed in the top three and will be moving forward in the competition are:
      • Health Career Display (team): Meryem Budak and Jackie Lee
      • Medical Spelling: Meghan Mirabella
  • Congratulations to the students who participated in the Brain Bee at UAH this weekend.  Meggie Mirabella placed 7th and Alex Ivan placed 2nd. Good job!!
  • Congratulations to the students who participated in the Model U.N. earlier this month and the Speech and Debate Tournament this weekend.  Special congratulations to Jane Brennan who qualified for nationals. 

 

Note from the Therapist

Some risk factors for suicide include but are not limited to:

  • hopelessness for the present and future
  • previous suicide attempts
  • substance use (as it impairs judgment)
  • no interest or pleasure in any activities
  • having no confidants
  • exposure to others' self harm
  • previous or current self harm
  • access to lethal weapons

If you have concerns about your child and do not currently have mental health resources for your child, please speak with the school counselor about receiving school based therapeutic services through Nova (Wellstone Behavioral Health).

Fee Reminders

  • Reminder: Senior Required Fee of $100 is due by May 1, 2020. This required fee covers many of the costs associated with graduation including the regalia (which students keep), the diploma cover, tassel, and graduation programs. If you need to make installment payments, Mrs. Hanvey will be happy to work those out with you. Please make checks payable to New Century Technology High School.
  • Just a reminder for all students taking AP Exams, balances will need to be paid by April 15, 2020. If you have any questions about payments, please call or email our bookkeeper Torre Hanvey 

 

AP Database

College Board has a database of different universities and the scores they require to award credit for each exam. It’s definitely worth viewing if you are considering Regular vs. AP vs. Dual Enrollment! Review it now.
