Looking Forward 9/27/21
Midterm exams are this week and students may exempt up to one exam if they meet the qualifications. See attached exam exemption form for more details. Be sure the completed form is submitted to your teacher at least one day before the scheduled exam. Students are expected to attend all classes each day.
We are in the process of updating our school’s Continuous Improvement Plan. I will be sending a survey link to all parents and I ask that you complete the survey to provide feedback on how we can make New Century a stronger school. Thank you for your support.
Makeup Picture Day
Makeup school pictures for underclassmen will take place on September 28 in the Lecture Hall. Students who missed the last picture day in August should be sure to get their picture taken. We want everyone represented in our yearbook!
Senior Portraits and Bios
Seniors should make sure to schedule and take their portraits with Prestige as soon as possible. We will have a makeup day for cap and gown pictures on campus during the school day sometime this semester. We will release the date as soon as it is finalized with Prestige.
Seniors should also complete their senior bio forms ASAP. Seniors can click here and log in with their school email address. The deadline for senior bios is October 1.
Order Your Yearbook!
2021-2022 yearbooks are now for sale. Purchase on the Balfour site. They cost $45 through December 1, after which the price will increase to $50.

Masking is required inside all Huntsville City Schools buildings. Please monitor yourself and your family members for the following symptoms: fever, cough, body aches, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, or sudden loss of taste or smell. Anyone who develops one or more of these symptoms should contact their doctor or nearest urgent care for guidance. If a member of your household tests positive for COVID, please notify the school nurse immediately. If a student is unable to attend class due to COVID concerns (such as exhibiting COVID symptoms or being excluded), please email Ms. Lightfoot to let her know so attendance can be marked appropriately. All classwork will be posted in Schoology so students can keep up with their schoolwork.
Tip of the Week
You are responsible for your choices and actions. Learn from your mistakes and do not make excuses. Don’t let outside circumstances control you. Make wise choices as you work to build a bright future for yourself and others around you.
