New Year, New Logo

Huntsville City Schools have had the same logo for awhile now, but it’s time for a change. This year the district decided to host a design-your-own-logo contest for all HCS students. After weeks of letting the participants design a logo they let the community pick their favorites. On January 4, the competition concluded and revealed the top 5 on January 10. Later, it was announced that freshmen Katherine Olejnik from New Century Technology High School won the competition!

After speaking with Katherine I asked “What made you want to enter the contest?” she answered “I just wanted to redesign the logo, it looked pretty bland and thought it needed to be more flashy.” She used time in class to sketch out the design and asked her dad to help her make a vector image. Katherine decided to do a graphic design because she thought it would be something different from what she usually does because she usually sketches her art by hand. Our school is proud that the selected design was created by one of our own students.

Once again congratulations to Katherine Olejnik for designing the brand new HCS logo!
