Our New Assistant Principal

written by Jasmine Graves, Junior Journalism Student

The century is changing and so is our administration. This year we have a new assistant principal, Mr. Chris Sims. Mr. Sims attended Alabama A&M where he received his undergraduate in Physical Education, his Master’s in Instructional Leadership, and his EDS in Instructional Leadership as well.

Mr. Sims has been working in Huntsville City School’s system for 16 years! He left and worked at Sparkman for two years then moved on to Calera for two years and now he’s back in HCS. His favorite thing about working in education is being able to touch the students' lives. He says his favorite thing about New Century has to be the students. When asked what is one word that described New Century he replied: Fantastic!

His message to his students is: “Try and do your best.”

In his free time, Mr. Sims likes to play basketball and golf. Mr. Sims is married with one son, and he loves to travel with his family for baseball.

Here's what our students said about him:

“He’s a nice guy.” – Jake

“He comes into the media center to play games with the kids.” – Xavier

“He’s laidback and chill.” – Jacob

“He’s pretty nice and cool.” – DeQuante

We are so happy to welcome Mr. Sims to the Falcon Family! He’s a great leader and has a genuine passion for touching the lives of students daily. His presence at New Century will leave an everlasting impression. Our students love him and how involved he gets with the students. He is very encouraging. He always pushes us to do our best and praises us for when we do good.
