An Introduction to Principal Worshim
Dear Providence Family,
I am extremely honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Providence Elementary School for the 2021-2022 school year. I am excited to become a part of the Providence family and community. I will work hard to continue the legacy of success at Providence and the IB Primary Years Programme. I am focused on developing and fostering strong, lasting relationships with students, parents, faculty, and community partners. I am eager to begin this journey of working on the mission of engaging the whole child in learning through inquiry and teaching intercultural understanding and respect for all by building strong relationships with students, parents, and community partners.
I bring over 25 years of experience as a bilingual educator, I have served in numerous capacities as a teacher, district special education instructional principal, and principal. Most recently, I served as principal at McDonnell Elementary School. Prior to McDonnell, I served as assistant principal at Grissom High School, and as district special education instructional specialist for Huntsville City Schools. I spent over 12 years in special education in the Texas school systems while supporting my husband and his military career.
I truly believe in collaborative teamwork with teachers, staff members, parents and community members to ensure the success of ALL students. I am thrilled to be given this opportunity and look forward to immersing myself completely in the Providence family. It is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students, parents and community members are excited to be at Providence and feel part of the Providence Family! This will enable us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. However, this takes teachers, staff members, families, and community committing to and investing in our children.
My door is always open, and I welcome your input. I look forward to meeting all of you, working with you, and helping each student meet their goals and have a successful school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas. I can be reached at Laura.Worshim@hsv-k12.org.
Here to serve,
