Two More Huntsville City Schools Receive Honors as a “National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence”
Two more Huntsville City Schools were recognized today as a “National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence” at the organization’s 2017 National Conference in Orlando, Florida. Principals from Mountain Gap P-8 and Challenger Middle School were on hand to receive a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse Award to honor each school’s achievements. The Huntsville City School District now has over a dozen National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence.
Schools are identified and selected for the award by the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Organization based on achievement of excellent performance in nine major categories, including areas such as; challenging standards and curriculum, active teaching and learning, technology integration, leadership and educational vitality along with school, along with family and community partnership. Only a small number of schools from across the nation are selected each year for recognition as a Blue Ribbon School.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Conference is a four-day professional development event that provides practical best practices and solutions for educators. Faculty members from the Huntsville School District were also there to share strategies with administrators from across the country, as a part of the many breakout sessions offered during the conference.
