Karen Melillo

I am so excited to be a part of the Weatherly Heights Elementary School family as your principal! I was born and raised in Huntsville and graduated from Sparkman High School. While in college, I was a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Liberty Middle School in Madison from 1992 until 1997. I began my teaching career in 1997 at University Place Elementary as a Behavior Intervention Teacher. I also taught 3rd Grade at University Place before moving to Chapman Elementary School in 2003. While at Chapman, I taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th Grades, then moved to Lakewood Elementary School in 2014 to serve as their Assistant Principal until 2017. I also served as the principal at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School from 2017 until 2019.

My husband, Marc, is a former teacher and now manages a local farm, as well as staying home with our precious baby girl, Gianna Grace. We also have two dogs. I love all things Disney, and you will rarely see me without a Dr. Pepper close by! I also love traveling, snorkeling, and photography.
