Sue Zupko

I have been teaching with Huntsville City Schools for 16 years, 15 of which have been as a Gifted Specialist. A lifelong learner, I have several degrees. I am National Board Certified as a Middle Childhood Generalist and expect to earn my Instructional Leadership certificate from UA in the spring of 2017. I love to learn and share that love of learning with children. I am a US Army veteran and am the chairperson of the Veterans Day Program, held annually on November 10. The NOAA Teacher at Sea program selected me twice to sail with scientists to study the ocean. As a result, I have organized the Seven Seas Celebration, a math/science community event to share what my students and I learn from our research. I am the morning show sponsor, guiding 25 fourth and fifth graders in communications. I enjoy working with the math team and chess club. My husband, Bill, and I have two children, five grandchildren, and a grand dog, all with whom I love to spend time. I enjoy hiking, photography, travel, quilting, singing in choir, and bird watching.
