Middle Principal's Introduction Letter

Greetings Lion Family

It is with great PRIDE (Go Lions!), pleasure, and a servant heart that I write this letter to formally introduce myself to the Whitesburg Family. I am so excited to be the newly appointed leader of Whitesburg Middle School, home of the Mighty Lions! I can hardly contain my excitement as I embark upon this new adventure. The Whitesburg community has embraced me with open arms, and for that I am forever thankful. I look forward to working with the students, faculty, staff, and community in which I will serve for the upcoming school year.

I am Dr. Linda Burruss, a wife of 22 years, mother of two wonderful children, a Christian, and an educator beginning my 23rd year. My career began at Lee High School in 1997 as a science teacher and I continued there for 14 years. It has been an awesome and amazing ride. I have had the pleasure of serving students, teachers, and communities in various capacities from elementary to high school and at the district level. I also served as the Huntsville Education Associate President for two years. It is important to know that WE will work together and grow as a team to carry out the many traditions that currently exist while also creating new ones. Furthermore, we will continue the path to create a culture of academic excellence.

As a passionate educator and a parent, I unequivocally understand the desire for children to have the best academic experiences. I share with you five core values that undergird my life as an educator:

  1. Strive for academic excellence
  2. Set high expectations for myself, the teachers, staff and students
  3. Exhibit fairness and consistency
  4. Build positive and productive relationships
  5. Operate with honesty and trust
