The Guidance Program at Williams School is based on the Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Model for Alabama Public Schools. The program is divided into three domains: academic development, career development, and personal/social development. This is accomplished through the school guidance curriculum, individual student and group planning, system support, and responsive services.
Our duties include classroom guidance lessons, small group and individual counseling, assigned duties and committees, RTI/PST coordinator, and the school 504 coordinator. We stay in constant communication and collaboration with parents, teachers, community members, stakeholders, and administration. While counselors never discipline students, We can assist with positive behavior strategies. My goal is for each student to develop socially, emotionally, and academically, and I will strive to create a safe and positive environment in which each child can accomplish this. We stay acutely aware of the needs of our students, faculty, school and families. We aim to provide resources and lessons based on these specific needs as well as mandated curriculum and initiatives.
School counselors work with students on social skills, bullying, divorce, problem-solving skills, friendships, college and career readiness, study skills, feelings, grief/loss, and many other important areas of concern. We can also put our families in touch with community resources as needed.
The mission of Huntsville City School’s Counseling Program is to provide a curriculum in accordance with ASCA National Model: A Framework for School Counseling Programs. The ASCA National Standards facilitate student development in three domains: Academic Development, Career Development, and Personal/Social Development. The goal is to equip students with the knowledge and tools to be successful academically and socially now and in life after high school.
We are dedicated to helping each child succeed. Please contact us if we can be of assistance to you and your child.
