Huntsville City Schools is proud to serve the many military families who work and live in our community. HCS is comprised of active-duty, military-dependent youth, and HCS is committed to provide support and resources to enhance their educational experiences and support their families.
HCS is fortunate to partner with Redstone Arsenal and Military Child Education Coalition. From parental deployments to the academic and social challenges that come with transition, HCS strives to ensure families have the best resources possible to assist students in reaching their full potential.
This webpage is designed to provide information to military families that are relocating to Huntsville, Alabama. It has links to additional resources and contact information for our district liaison who can provide additional assistance to relocating and current HCS military families. Student2Student (S2S) is a student program that brings military and civilian students together to welcome new students, create a positive environment, support academic excellence, and ease transitions. All HCS schools have an S2S program and Purple Star Liaison. View a list of the liaisons at each school below:

The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) has a wide variety of resources for parents and professionals on their website. In addition to the to their live and web-based trainings they offer webinars and a podcast specifically developed for military families.
- Military Child Education Coalition SchoolQuest
SchoolQuest is a free, online tool that helps parents of military-connected children to prepare for the frequent school moves and other unique stressors of a military lifestyle. The website serves as a virtual hub where parents and students can find helpful information, tools, and resources centralized on a single platform.
- Military OneSource
Military OneSource offers a variety of helpful content and services for military service members and their families. Their services include private, non-medical counseling, consultations and coaching, and life chat for individual questions.
- Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission
Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) is an agreement between all 50 states and D.C. to aid military children and families as they experience educational transitions. Their site provides numerous resources for educators and families to use to support military students with MIC3.
Tutor.com is an online tutoring service that has partnered with the DoD to help support military-connected students. It is free for all military connected students.
