I was raised in Ankeny, Iowa and graduated from Ankeny Senior High School in 1991. My time in high school was active as I participated in numerous extra-curricular activities from sports (football, soccer, track) to music (choir, show choir and band). I was also a member of Civil Air Patrol which allowed me to explore my desire to join the Air Force and serve our country. During the summer between my junior and senior years I enlisted in the Air Force under the delayed enlistment program and entered into active duty service in August of 1991. While I was in the Air Force I lived in Germany, Oklahoma, England and Texas and performed temporary duties in Southwest Asia and Africa to name a few locations. One of the highlights of my military career was the opportunity to travel and experience other cultures. My entire time in the Air Force was spent within the Security Forces career field, and I retired after twenty years of service in 2011. I have three young children. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, tinkering around the house and watching Oklahoma Sooner Football.
