Laura Carter
Laura Carter is a native of Oxford, Alabama, and is a graduate of the University of Montevallo. She is married to a fellow
teacher, has a son in elementary school, and has a miniature schnauzer named Teddy. When not teaching teenagers or spending time with her family, Ms. Carter is in a perpetual state of planning her next road trip or writing her next kidlit book. Her debut picture book, A STEMinist Force, released in 2024, and her second picture book will release in 2025. Her
goal, whether through teaching or writing, is to encourage kids (and adults) to love stories, history, and learning.

Experience
After receiving her Masters in Secondary Education from Montevallo in 2009, Ms. Carter spent a year working at EarlyWorks followed by several years substitute teaching for Madison County Schools. She taught US History at Sparkman High School and Modern World History at Sparkman Ninth Grade. In 2015, she transferred to NCTHS, where she currently teaches US History 11, AP US History, and Dual Enrollment US History (HIS 201/202) through Calhoun Community College. In 2024, she was named the HCS SecondaryTeacher of the Year and is currently pursuing her National Board Certification.
