Coach Brinkley is the JV/Freshman wrestling coach at Grissom, where he also coaches Freshman Football. Coach Brinkley began his wrestling career in high school at Kecoughtan in Hampton Virginia. He wrestled two years at 185 lbs and two years at Hwt. He was a member of the PWA Freestyle and Greco-Roman teams as well as a member of the Virginia State Freestyle and Greco-Roman teams. After high school Coach Brinkley began his collegiate studies at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. He was an assistant wrestling coach for three years and football for four years at his high school alma mater. He left Virginia and headed to Maryland and a job with Young Life. While in Maryland he coached JV football and was an assistant wrestling coach at Kent County High School. Coach Brinkley then journeyed to Huntsville where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. He went to work for a local church for several years while obtaining a Master’s Degree in Christian Thought. He has been employed as a teacher in the Huntsville City Schools since 2007. He taught for three years at the Fletcher E. Seldon Center before being transferred to Grissom High School. Coach Brinkley has been married to his wonderful wife, Trisha since 1999. They have two wonderful boys, Kaleb and Elijah. “I hope to mentor young men to be contributors to the storied Grissom wrestling program and to the community at large.”
