Alabama students entering grades K–8 for the 2026–2027 school year are invited to participate in the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge. As we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, students are encouraged to explore books that highlight the nation’s history, culture, people, and spirit. To participate, students will:

  • Read six books

  • Track their reading using the provided log

  • Complete a reflection through writing or drawing, sharing what they learned about the United States
