Chaffee held a vocabulary parade on Friday, October 18. Every day for the four weeks leading up to the parade, students learned a new word! Teachers were provided with a range of techniques to help children expand their vocabulary in the classroom. During vocabulary discussions, students engaged in using words they had never heard before! Over the course of the four weeks, a special guest visited each class and asked students to participate in a discussion using their words. In addition, the kids received lightning bolt bracelets as a reward for their diligence.

Each grade level selected a decoration for the parade following the four weeks of word learning. Students had time to create their vocabulary costumes. Students were ecstatic to apply their new vocabulary while using their imaginations to create their props or costumes. Students paraded across the blacktop to showcase their costumes and words after putting in a lot of effort. Expanding vocabulary and involving students in an enjoyable learning experience was fantastic!
