During the month of February, Chaffee has been celebrating Black History Month. The Black History Month Committee organized meaningful learning opportunities for students, including an exciting Black History Month Assembly. Fourth-grade students dedicated time to researching famous African American figures. They created display boards highlighting important facts about their chosen individuals and dressed up as these historical figures to participate in a wax museum event. The entire school had the chance to explore the wax museum and listen to the speeches the fourth graders prepared. The students did an outstanding job and had a lot of fun throughout the experience!

Second-grade students created Bottle Buddies by researching famous African Americans and crafting a bottle buddy to represent their chosen individual. These Bottle Buddies were displayed in the cafeteria during the wax museum event. The students truly enjoyed this creative and engaging learning experience!

Throughout the month, the school news has featured Black History Month facts. The news anchors have also presented daily trivia questions for students to answer. This has provided students with diverse and engaging ways to learn about Black History Month. A big thank you to the Black History Month Committee for organizing such meaningful learning opportunities!
