Chaffee Elementary School Logo

Greetings Chaffee Families,

We look forward to seeing everyone as we excitedly kick-off the 2026-2027 school year on Wednesday, August 5th! School doors open at 7:30am, and school starts at 8am.

We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night TOMORROW. Please enter through the cafeteria. Our PTA will have a table set up—please join the PTA and enjoy a discounted price and other special offers. Ms. Klepin and Ms. Honda will be set up to hand out carline tags to new families. Visit the office to register your license (new families only). Rocket Sips will be set up too. You can visit your child’s classroom(s) for Meet the Teacher and Supply Drop Off from 5:00-6:30pm. School Supply Lists are located on the website. Orientation for new families or any family who may have questions is at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. We can’t wait to see you there!

We hope to see you Friday at the Chaffee PTA’s Back to School Bash, open to all Chaffee families! Space is limited at the venue, but fun isn’t!

Here are a few arrival/dismissal reminders as we begin the year that will help us keep all of our students safe. We appreciate your help and patience during arrival and dismissal as we work on our routines:

Carline:

  • Please seat your child(ren) on the right side of the car so they enter/exit your car on the passenger side. They should not get in/out on the driver’s side.

  • Remember to pull all the way up to the front of the line or to the car in front of you before dropping off and picking up. If the car in front of you is about to move, please wait and pull forward. We will send your child to you if this is during pick up.

  • Students should be ready to exit the car with their backpacks and lunchboxes when you pull up.

  • We ask that parents do not get out of the car to assist their students unless there is a special circumstance. If this is the case, please wait and pull all the way forward to the front of the carline before doing so.

  • Your car tag should be visible all the way through carline until your child gets in your car.

  • Please make sure your vehicle’s floorboards are free of garbage and other loose items. Most of the litter on our campus comes from inside our students’ cars.

  • Continue to remind your child about how he/she gets home in the afternoons. You must convey changes in transportation to your child’s teacher. You can also call the front office in afternoon transportation needs to be changed.

Additional Arrival/Dismissal Info:

  • We ask that you not bring pets on campus.

  • At dismissal, once you have your child please go ahead and exit the campus. We know many of you who walk to pick up like to stay and visit, but it is very helpful to us if you do not do this. It is so much easier for us to pair our students with a parent when we know that the only people we see are waiting to get their child.

  • Please don’t walk through carline to get to the playground. We ask that anyone wishing to use the playground after school do so after 3:00 (or after carline is finished, whichever comes first). This may mean that you need to exit the campus and then return a little later to play on the playground.

  • Please do not block intersections or driveways in our community.

  • Pull as close to the curb as possible to allow traffic to flow around our line.

  • If your child(ren) is a walker, then they should walk away from campus, not walk to your car across the street.

We appreciate your help with this. We want to ensure the safety of all our students, and we want to reduce the amount of time you spend in carline. Please be sure to share this information with others who help you with pick up and drop off.

We know many of you would like to walk your child in on the first day, which is absolutely fine, but please begin your normal drop off routine on the second day of school. Parents of kindergarten students may walk them in on the first two days of school. Also remember that if you do plan to walk your child in on the first day that parking is limited in our community. We ask that you exit the school quickly after walking your child(ren) to school. **There is no visitor parking in the back parking lot prior to 8:30am.

Do you need to change your child’s afternoon transportation? Call the office before 2pm so that we can get the message to your child’s teacher.

I know I speak for everyone at Chaffee when I say we are ready to get this school year started. It is going to be an awesome year!

Soar Eagles,

April Clark
