Greetings Chaffee Families,
Have you noticed our morning and afternoon car line is a little longer this year? That is primarily due to an enrollment increase of about 30 students this year and not yet having 5th grade Safety Patrol to assist with opening doors. You can help speed up car line in the following ways:
In the morning make sure your child is ready to get out of the car as soon as you pull up.
Have students seated on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Have floorboards clean so garbage doesn’t fall out.
Pull all the way to the curb in the front and back car lines so cars can go around you.
Pull all the way up to the car in front of you.
Put your phones away and keep your eyes on the car line.
In the afternoon keep your car line tag on your rearview window until you have your student in your car.
In the morning you can drop your student off in the front car line after 7:30am. Students will take the short walk to the back car line and enter the building there.
Stay in your car. If you need help, roll down your window and let us know. We will get you to pull all the way up and assist you there.
As always, please do not block roads or crosswalks.
Be polite and patient. Our car line is a dream compared to most schools. 😊
We have our first Spirit Night of the year at Cheeseburger Bobby’s tomorrow at 5-8pm. I hope to see you there!
Our PTA Meeting with Fall Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 5:45-7:00pm. We hope to see your family there. As a reminder, our back parking lot fills quickly. Do not block the movement of the cars. You are welcome to park legally on roads in our Chaffee neighborhood. Please enter via the cafeteria doors. I encourage everyone to join our PTA! We are very fortunate to have such a hardworking and supportive PTA. Becoming a member is a wonderful way to support the school and your child, so we hope you will join if you have not done so already. Membership is only $5/person through August 31!
Have you read with your child this weekend? Open a book and read together each day to encourage a love of reading in your child. It’s time well spent. 😊
Students learn best when they are at school. If your child is absent, don’t forget to send/email a parent or doctor excuse note within a week of your child’s absence.
Our students are learning the school’s expectations and procedures and are learning that Chaffee Choices Equal Success! We appreciate you supporting our student(s) in making positive school choices.
Soar Eagles,
April Clark
