On Friday, March 7th, CPT Melanie Appleton accompanied Cadet Command Sergeant Major Fawensky Valery to an interview that led to a groundbreaking achievement for Columbia High School’s Eagle Battalion.
Cadet CSM Valery has made history as the first Columbia High School cadet to apply for and secure a leadership position at the Alabama State JROTC Officer level. Competing against top cadets from various schools and military branches across Alabama, he emerged victorious and will serve as the 2025-2026 Alabama State JROTC President.
Throughout his two years in the program, Cadet CSM Valery has exemplified outstanding leadership, dedication, and community service, setting a high standard for his peers. In his new role, he will engage in leadership training, seminars, and summits, further developing his skills while making a lasting impact on JROTC cadets across the state.
His success not only elevates the reputation of the Eagle Battalion but also inspires excellence at Columbia High School and within the broader community.
