As the school year began in Physical Education classes, the focus of team building kicked off with engaging activities such as partner cup stacking. These activities fostered collaboration and communication among students, setting a positive tone for the rest of the year. Moving into Week 2, we transitioned to the weight room, where students learned basic lifting techniques and the importance of goal setting. This foundational knowledge is essential for their growth in physical fitness.
In Weeks 5 and 6, students have been actively participating in flag football, where they are honing their route-running skills and embracing outdoor play. This hands-on experience not only enhances their physical abilities but also promotes teamwork and strategic thinking.
Additionally, through the H.E.A.L. program (Healthy Eating Active Living), students have explored vital health concepts. They've practiced manual pulse checks and learned to use electronic devices such as pulse oximeters and pulse bars. Our curriculum emphasizes goal setting, particularly in weight training and pre-fitness testing, alongside the F.I.T.T. Principles (Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type) and S.M.A.R.T. Goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-Tested). Students also gained insights into blood transport throughout the body and the roles of arteries, capillaries, and veins. These activities collectively contribute to a well-rounded physical education experience, equipping students with essential skills for a healthy lifestyle.
