Ms. Fortune’s history students recently stepped back in time and up to the microphone for an engaging, hands-on project exploring ancient human history. To tackle a central question, "Who had life better: people living in the Paleolithic Era or the Neolithic Era," students jumped deep into research. Working in collaborative teams, they examined evidence from ancient artifacts and prehistoric dwelling sites to uncover key differences in daily survival, tools, diet, and shelter across both eras.
After weighing the evidence, students brought their arguments to life by planning, recording, and producing their own short podcasts. Over the course of the two-day lesson, students gained practical technical experience with digital recording, editing, and audio publishing tools. By combining critical analysis with modern multimedia production, the activity kept students fully engaged while building both historical knowledge and digital literacy skills.
