Alabama students entering grades K–8 for the 2026–2027 school year are invited to participate in the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge.
As we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, students are encouraged to explore books that highlight the nation’s history, culture, people, and spirit. Click here for more information from the governor's office.
To participate, students will:
Read six books
Track their reading using the provided log (see the website linked above)
Complete a reflection through writing or drawing, sharing what they learned about the United States
Completed reading logs and reflections should be mailed to:
